Former University of Kentucky and Pittsburgh Steelers center Dermontti Dawson has chosen his former high school football coach at Bryan Station, Steve Parker, to serve as his presenter for his induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, on Aug. 4.

"The reason I chose Coach Parker as my presenter was because I never would have played football if it weren't for him," Dawson said. "Coach Parker came up to me in the hallway, I think in the beginning of my junior year and just put his arm on my shoulder and said, 'Son, where have you been all my life?' He taught me about hard work and dedication."

Dawson is part of a 2012 induction class that also includes Jack Butler, Chris Doleman, Cortez Kennedy, Curtis Martin and Willie Roaf.

The formal enshrinement will take place Aug. 4 at 7 p.m. on the Pro Football Hall of Fame Field at Fawcett Stadium. The stadium is located directly across the street from the Hall of Fame.

More than 80 previously enshrined Hall of Fame members are expected to be in Canton during the Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Festival.

Enshrinement tickets are $35, $45, and $60 and may be purchased online at or by calling 1-800-913-9788. There are also a limited number of $15 general admission tickets.
