Corbin woman charged with animal cruelty; three dogs found malnourished

Published: August 6, 2012

A Corbin woman was charged with animal cruelty after a deputy found three malnourished dogs at her house, Laurel County Sheriff John Root said.

Jennifer L. Karr, 36, was charged with second-degree animal cruelty, Root said in a news release.

Karr was arrested Friday.

Deputy Milton Storm found the dogs after going to investigate a complaint that they weren't being cared for properly, Root said in a news release issued Monday.

Two of the dogs were on short lengths of chain, without food, and they had bones protruding, according to the news release.

The third dog was in a cage with no food.

An animal-control officer took two of the dogs to a veterinarian for treatment and took the third to a shelter, Root said.
