The Fayette County Coroner's Office has identified a restaurant worker who was shot to death early Sunday at Seventh and Dakota streets.

Brian Lee Hodge, 31, died from multiple gunshot wounds, according to a news release. Police had not made an arrest in the case early Monday night.

Hodge was described as quiet and a hard worker in his job as a cook at Indi's Restaurant on North Broadway and Seventh.

"He stayed to himself, but he was a good person," said Aaram Chase, a manager at Indi's.

Chase said Hodge was the father of a 5- or 6-year-old son.

"He got him every other weekend and he loved spending time with his son," Chase said.

The shooting happened about 1:50 a.m. Sunday. Hodge was taken to the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, where he was pronounced dead about a half-hour later.

An autopsy was performed Monday by the state medical examiner's office in Frankfort.

Police have not released a possible motive in the case.

Hodge had several prior run-ins with the law, but most were for misdemeanor charges. He had one felony conviction in July 2010 for receiving stolen property. Four other charges were dismissed.

He was sentenced to five years probation.
