John Calipari has cooked up another off-season treat for Kentucky basketball fans.
The UK coach announced Friday that the Wildcats will host an alumni game Sept. 15 in Rupp Arena.
Calipari plans to bring back most of the Wildcats currently in the NBA for the game.
The proceeds will go to charity, some of which will benefit West Liberty, the Kentucky town devastated by a tornado last March. Calipari was in West Liberty on Friday for an appearance on Kentucky Sports Radio, which was leading a relief effort of its own.
The alumni game will take place at 2 p.m. on Sept. 15. The UK football team plays host to Western Kentucky later that day at 7.
"I'm really excited about it," Calipari said. "The players are excited about it. When we did the Dominican Republic (exhibition games last summer), you remember we played the Kentucky team. Those players, when they were introduced, it was like a love-fest. They have never had an introduction like that since they left Kentucky until they came back to Kentucky. They're family."
Calipari said he is also hoping to bring back the 1996 national championship team as part of the alumni game.
Details, including ticket information, are still being finalized and will be announced in the coming weeks.
"Please do not call Rupp Arena yet because we don't have all the particulars and all the stuff done," Calipari said on the radio show.
