What we'll see

Sunday

See what all the hype is about when No. 1 draft pick Andrew Luck of the Indianapolis Colts takes on the Pittsburgh Steelers in an NFL pre-season game. (8 p.m., NBC-18)

Friday

Cincinnati opens a three-game series at home against defending World Series champion St. Louis. If you're ready to write off the Cardinals because they're mired in third place in the National League Central, well behind the first-place Reds, don't be so hasty. On this date last year, St. Louis was 71/2 games behind Milwaukee. (7:10 p.m., Fox Sports Ohio)

Friday, Saturday

Week 2 of the high school season kicks off with the Fayette County iHigh Football Frenzy at Bryan Station. On Friday, it's Bell County vs. Bryan Station at 6 p.m., followed by Bowling Green vs. Lafayette at 8:30. Saturday's tripleheader features Harlan County vs. Tates Creek (3 p.m.), Ryle vs. Henry Clay (6 p.m.) and Paul Laurence Dunbar vs. Eastern (9 p.m.). Broadcasts of all five games can be viewed live on Kentucky.com.

Saturday

What's left of the injury-ravaged 3-year-old class — still a surprisingly strong group — comes together for the 143rd Travers Stakes at Saratoga. The Grade I, $1 million event is America's oldest Thoroughbred race, having debuted in 1864. Alpha, Hansen, Liaison, Neck 'n Neck and Street Life head what is shaping up to be a large contingent for the 11/4-mile Mid-Summer Derby. (4 p.m., NBC-18)
