Winchester's annual Labor Day parade took place despite some rain and cloudy skies Monday. The parade, which covered a one-mile route down Main Street, featured beauty queens, dancers, politicians and, as the grand marshal, the Rev. Henry E. Baker Sr., pastor of Broadway Baptist Church for 38 years and organizer of the Winchester-Clark County Drug Coalition. He was the first black elected to the Winchester City Commission and served as vice mayor in 1980-81. Winchester has had a Labor Day celebration and parade since 1904.
