Lexington Catholic senior Jack Whitman has committed to play college basketball at William & Mary, a Division I school in Williamsburg, Va.
"I had a really good relationship with the coaches, I really felt comfortable with the campus and everything they're doing there, and I wanted to be part of it," said Whitman, who chose William & Mary over Bucknell, Princeton and Rice.
He also had scholarship offers from 11 other schools.
The 6-foot-9 Whitman averaged 19.8 points and 10 rebounds last season and earned first-team all-state honors.
"Jack's best basketball is ahead of him, no question about it," Knights Coach Brandon Salsman said. "How he's developed from when he was a sophomore to now is unreal. He's got tremendous ability. He's like a sponge ... he just keeps soaking it up.
"I think he'll have a great year this year, and a great college career."
Salsman said academics played a big part in Whitman's decision.
"He's got a brother (Will Whitman) who was a freshman All-American in football at Harvard last year. Their family makes sure they're going to be set academically."
