The Scott County Sheriff's Office is looking for a man who bound a gas station manager and robbed the store.

At 11:49 p.m. Monday, the sheriff's office received a report of a robbery at the Pilot Travel Center on Triport Road, off Interstate 75 Exit 129 in Georgetown, Scott County Sheriff Tony Hampton said.

The man entered the store and assaulted the manager. He taped the manager's mouth shut and bound him, using duct tape and packaging tape, Hampton said.

The man took money from an open safe and a disc from the store's surveillance video computer.

"I think it's safe for me to say that this was well planned," Hampton said.

A co-worker found the manager and untied him. The manager was treated at Georgetown Community Hospital for minor injuries, Hampton said.

The man was wearing a blue fleece hoodie and black shoes. A more detailed description was not available.

"Our victim was assaulted and very highly stressed, so maybe there are some things he's not able to tell us that we'll be able to see on the video," Hampton said.

Investigators hope to retrieve images of the robbery from the computer's hard drive and release that to the media, Hampton said.

The sheriff would not release the amount of money taken in the robbery. Hampton said it is "too early to speculate" whether the robbery is connected with a series of motel and gas station robberies on Lexington's north side in recent weeks.
