Jessamine County: Adkins takes Soap Box Derby

Devin Adkins was the first-place winner in the inaugural Jessamine Jamboree Soap Box Derby which was held Sept. 15 on York Street. Other honors went to: Madison Morin, second place; Ty Hutchens, most creative car; and Jahrett Wilson, best-looking car. The event was open to boys and girls ages 6 through 14.

Asbury soloists to sing for Wilmore seniors

Asbury University vocal soloists will perform a variety of recital pieces at the Wilmore Senior Community center at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Wesley Village, 1125 Lexington Road in Wilmore. The program is part of the Asbury University Masterworks Series and will be under the direction of Virginia Bowles. For information call Alan at (859) 858-3865, Ext. 238.

Stewart is Miss Kentucky Teen America

Carol Anne Stewart, 16, daughter of Jon and Melissa Stewart of Nicholasville, was named Miss Kentucky Teen America on Sept. 8 at the Ursuline Arts Center in Louisville. She represented the City of Nicholasville and was one of 17 contestants from across the state. She was judged in four areas: interview, fitness, fashion modeling and evening gown. As Miss Kentucky Teen America, Carol Anne will represent Kentucky at the Miss Teen America Pageant in Orlando, Fla., in July.
