Tidbits: Minton's is open and serving family favorites

Minton's at 760, now open at 760 North Limestone, has a menu that owner Ashley Minton calls "Southern with a twist."

Minton, who also owns Nova Gourmets Personal Chef and Events, said the restaurant will serve many recipes that are "my family's favorites that I have adapted."

Breakfast and lunch are served 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays, and dinner is served from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. Brunch is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.

"For dinner we will be doing seasonal dishes," she said. "They will change every week and be based on what is in season and what we can get from our farmers. We are using as many local products and foods as we possibly can, and will be making many items from scratch."

Bourbon n' Toulouse, 829 Euclid Avenue, is teaming up with WKYT (Channel 27) and the Wells Fargo Foundation to raise money for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.

On Friday, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Bourbon n' Toulouse will donate 25 percent of its sales to Team Pyddney, in honor of the late Pyddney Jones, who was a financial adviser with Wells Fargo, a school librarian at Breckenridge Elementary and a regional librarian for the Kentucky Department of Libraries and Archives. She died in June 2011. Wells Fargo will match the donations, up to $25,000.

The restaurant also will register anyone who would like to walk, run or "Sleep in for the Cure." Those who register for the race or donate $30 or more to Komen Lexington will receive a free Bourbon n' Toulouse T-shirt. Call (859) 335-0300.

Georgia's Kitchen Café, 900 North Broadway, is having a fall festival 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. The menu features barbecued chicken, brats and burgers. There will be activities for children. Call (859) 252-6837.

■ The Great Pumpkin Festival at Happy Jack's Pumpkin Farm in Frankfort will be noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. Chef Ouita Michel of the Holly Hill Inn in Midway will introduce her Taco Loco cart; Nat Henton of Woodford County will prepare prawns from his Big Shrimpin' harvest; and the Midway School Bakery will serve beignets and cookies.
