September 27, 2012

Lexington native and newspaper industry veteran Mark Webster has been named president and publisher of The Sun News in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The newspaper is owned by The McClatchy Co., which also owns the Lexington Herald-Leader.

Webster began his newspaper career at the Herald-Leader in 1981 and has most recently worked as the regional vice president of human resources for three McClatchy newspapers in the Carolinas, including The Sun News, The Charlotte Observer in North Carolina and The Herald in Rock Hill, S.C.

Lexington Herald-Leader is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news. Some of the comments may be reprinted elsewhere in the site or in the newspaper. We encourage lively, open debate on the issues of the day, and ask that you refrain from profanity, hate speech, personal comments and remarks that are off point. Thank you for taking the time to offer your thoughts.
