Designer Kelly Wearstler is busy on the home and fashion fronts

Chicago TribuneSeptember 29, 2012

Fashion and home often cross-pollinate, but few designers have cultivated both fields as successfully as Kelly Wearstler.

Her mod-meets-baroque interiors for the Viceroy and Tides in Miami and the Avalon in Southern California helped sow the aesthetic of maximalism and earned her "Design 100" status from Time Style & Design while drawing attention to her personal style and Carla Bruni-esque looks.

Wearstler made Vogue's best-dressed list in 2007, and in fall 2011 she launched her ready-to-wear and accessories collection at Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, Net-a-Porter.com and her new flagship boutique in Los Angeles.

She keeps one heel planted in interior design, taking on residential and commercial commissions while creating home furnishings for Bergdorf Goodman, rugs for The Rug Co. and fabrics and trims for Lee Jofa.

The South Carolina native and Los Angeles resident, 44, served as a judge on Top Design on Bravo, and Rizzoli is publishing her fourth book in October, Kelly Wearstler: Rhapsody ($55). She is married to developer Brad Korzen, whose Avalon hotel was one of her first high- profile projects, and they have two sons. Here's a look at the other heel of her glamorous profile.
