Breathitt woman dies in collision with garbage truck in Shelby

A Breathitt County woman died Tuesday morning in Shelby County when she drove into the path of a garbage truck.

Martha White, 44, of Wolf Coal was pronounced dead at the scene by the Shelby County Coroner's Office, according to state police news release.

The BFI garbage truck, operated by Jamie Willard of Waddy, was westbound on U.S. 60 near the Ky. 395 intersection. White was northbound on Ky. 395 in a 2008 Chevrolet. She ran a stop sign and drove into the path of the truck, according to the news release. Willard was not injured.

Both White and Willard were wearing their seat belts.
