In a season of bold brocades and jewel tones, purple has pulled away from the pack as a leading fall trend.

From Prada's curvy plum-and-black Spazzolato Mary Janes with their towering 53⁄5-inch heels to mulberry tights from Hue and berry-colored bags from Michael Kors, there's a purple out there for almost everyone.

Pair this rich color with chunky gold jewelry or basic black boots. Or wear it as a bold accent with a dramatic nail in a deep shade like Lancôme's Midnight Rose or OPI's Casino Royale.

For fall and winter's smoky eyes, try a plummy liner instead of the usual black. Revlon Color Stay Smoky Eyeshadow Stick in Flare has a light lavender tip on one end and a darker shade on the other for a glamorous look. It's $9 at drugstores.

If you've been saving your best merlots and mauves for the right occasion, Sunday at Keeneland is the perfect time to don these colors.

Plum Pretty, the 2011 Kentucky Oaks winner, will be paraded in the paddock before the fifth race, and fans will have a chance to meet the recently retired filly.

Women who wear purple to the track will receive a button that says "I'm Plum Pretty" and the chance to win a photo session with the horse and win her halter.

The first 1,000 purple-clad female fans to register at the tent in the Paddock area will receive a free Plum Pretty poster. Purple sundaes and jockey silk cookies will be sold.

Also, Keeneland will host a new event, Fashions on the Field, on Oct. 27 in which fans may compete for the Best Dressed title in women's and men's divisions. Register in advance at Fashionattheraces.com or sign up 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Oct. 27.
