Central Baptist honored for organ donation

October 12, 2012

Central Baptist Hospital has been awarded the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Bronze Medal of Honor for Organ Donation for achieving and sustaining national goals for donation.

Central Baptist was among four Kentucky hospitals and 404 hospitals nationwide that were recognized Oct. 4 during the seventh annual National Learning Congress on Organ Donation and Transplantation in Texas. Awards were presented for work done from April 1, 2010 through March 31, 2012.

Other Kentucky hospitals receiving honors were Kosair Children's Hospital and University of Louisville Hospital, both of which received bronze medals, and Owensboro Medical Health System, which received a silver medal.

Central Baptist collaborates with Kentucky Organ Donor Affiliates, an independent, non-profit organ and tissue-procurement agency serving 114 counties in Kentucky.
