Some would argue that fashion is as much a part of Keeneland as Thoroughbreds and bourbon bread pudding.

From the clubhouse to the paddock area at spring and fall meets, you're likely to see preppy blazers and pants in singe-your-eyes bright patterns, and sharp, modern boots and dresses.

Saturday at the track, stylish race- goers can win big at Fashion at the Races for people 18 and older. A winner will be named for men and for women.

"Fashion is such a big part of what our fans do at Keeneland," said Kara Heissenbuttel, marketing and special events coordinator. So when the idea for a fashion contest was suggested, the staff knew if was a perfect fit. "What better way to wrap up our Fall Meet, where our fans can showcase their favorite Keeneland attire."

As of Wednesday Heissenbuttel said, more than 50 women and 40 men had signed up. Prizes will include jewelry from Shelia Bayes, gift certificates to the Keeneland Gift Shop, tickets to the Breeder's Cup in Santa Anita and more.
