Coming up: There are no stakes at Keeneland on Friday. The Grade II Fayette Stakes featuring Grade I winner Take Charge Indy highlights the closing day card on Saturday. Take Charge Indy, winner of this year's Florida Derby, came out of the Kentucky Derby with a chip in his left front ankle.

Final furlong

■ Adele Dilschneider's homebred Unlatch pulled away from Grand Arch in deep stretch to win the featured $52,000 Machmer Hall Purse for 3-year-olds and up by 1¼ lengths on Thursday. Trained by Al Stall Jr. and ridden by Brian Hernandez, Unlatch covered the mile on a firm turf course in 1:37.19.

■ Animal Kingdom, winner of the 2011 Kentucky Derby, will have his final major move in advance of his slated start in the Breeders' Cup Mile when he works on the turf at Keeneland on Friday morning.

■ Julien Leparoux padded his already substantial lead in the Keeneland jockeys standings, winning two more races on Thursday to give him a meet leading total of 24 heading into Friday.
