State police were investigating an officer-involved shooting in Hardin County early Saturday.

Joshua S. Blough, 25, of Grayson County, was shot in the neck after he turned toward an officer while holding a weapon, according to a news release from Kentucky State Police Post 4.

The officer, whose name was not immediately released, was responding to a burglary-in-progress report on South Wilson Road north of Elizabethtown when he saw Blough and another man coming out of a wooded area, the release said. As the men were getting into a pickup truck, the officer told one of them to show his hands.

Blough approached the officer and "refused to comply" with his orders; he then rummaged through the bed of the pickup truck, pulled out a weapon and turned toward the officer, the release said.

The officer fired once. Blough was taken to University of Louisville Hospital in stable condition, the release said.

The incident happened about 6:30 a.m.
