Two departing flights from Blue Grass Airport in Lexington and one arriving flight were canceled Monday morning because of Hurricane Sandy in the Northeast.

A 6:30 a.m., Delta Air Lines' flight to Reagan National Airport in Washington D.C. and a 7:45 a.m. Delta flight to LaGuardia Airport in New York were canceled, said Louise Bowden, marketing specialist for the airport.

Also canceled was a 10:04 a.m. Delta flight that was scheduled to arrive at Blue Grass from Washington D.C., Bowden said. She said she anticipated no more cancellations Monday.

"I think we'll be pretty quiet for the rest of the day," Bowden said. Flights to and from Charlotte, N.C., have not been affected, she said.

She encouraged passengers to call their airline before they go to the airport.

"Typically, airlines will have the most up-to-date information on their Web sites," Bowden said. "So definitely check with your airline before you fly."

Those on dropped flights also should consult with the airlines about alternatives.
