Fash Food Trend Report: Bright prints liven up the winter wardrobe

When chilly days first hit, we often reach for clothing in somber colors of solid browns, oranges and blacks. But color has cropped up this season with pants in fun patterns that will spice up even the darkest of cold-weather outfits.

Pair them with structured blazers or sweaters and ballet flats for an easy winter look.

Break out of the denim and khaki doldrums with Trina Turk slim-leg Monie pants that feature a modern graphic print with pops of red, white and black.

Florals aren't just for spring anymore. Topshop offers tailored skinny trousers covered in vibrant flowers against a wintry black background.

Fashionable shoppers will have their eye on jacquard cigarette pants at Loft, covered in a shimmering cream and gold pattern, just the piece for a holiday party. Pair them with a turtleneck and flats for work.

Even a basic palette of black and white gets a dose of whimsy with Diane von Furstenberg silk pants decorated with color-blocked puzzle pieces. Tibi's Poloma Pant features a fanciful pattern of flying black birds against a white background.
