LexCare: Mom of 2 needs money for car repairs

November 7, 2012

Gabriel Brown, a social worker at Jesse Clark Middle School Youth Service Center, submitted a request on behalf of his client, a divorced mother of two children, ages 13 and 4. She needs $253.88 to pay for repairs to her car, which is her only means of transportation to school and work.

She and her children moved to Lexington last year in order for her to attend Midway College, where she is pursuing a degree in equine management.

She has a work study for Midway College, which is a related internship of 14 hours a week in equine studies. She also works at McDonald's.

She received housing assistance from the One Scholar House for single mothers attending college or university.

Once the car repair bill is taken care of, the family will be able to manage on the mother's earnings and food stamps. You can help: Lex-Care Inc., P.O. Box 1328, Lexington, Ky. 40588. Contact Lex-Care at (859) 699-9859 or Lexcare.org.
