Centre College in Danville has been ranked as a top school for studying abroad.

The Institute of International Education in New York issued a report last week that named Centre the No. 1 school for studying abroad among the nation's four-year baccalaureate institutions.

On average, about 85 percent of Centre students travel to other countries at least once as part of their education, Centre President John A. Roush said in a prepared statement. Among Centre's host countries are China, Japan, England, Ireland, France, Spain and Mexico. In September, Centre added a study program in Scotland at the University of Glasgow.

The private liberal arts college encourages international study and provides a free passport to every student who doesn't already have one.
