It was open season for our annual Dress the Turkey contest this year, and readers could use any idea they wanted for the Thanksgiving bird.

Among the hundreds of entries were Disney characters, sports figures, TV stars, politicians, University of Kentucky basketball players, cartoon characters and some beautifully decorated birds. We are sharing 20 of the best entries.

Artists whose turkeys are on the Life + Neighbors front in the Herald-Leader received $15 Kroger gift cards. More turkeys appeared in a Kroger ad.
