The Interfaith Alliance of the Bluegrass is hosting a Celebration of Gratitude, the God's Pantry Food Bank as a special guest, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Temple Adath Israel, 124 North Ashland Avenue. Members of different faiths will talk briefly about how they give thanks. A representative from God's Pantry will talk about the steps being taken to increase distribution capacity and provide food to more than 330,000 people in poverty in its 50-county service area. A vegetarian meal will be served. A can or two of food for the food bank or a salad or side dish to share is requested.
Eat out to help AVOL
AIDS Volunteers Inc.'s third annual Dining Out for Life event will be Nov. 28. Thirty locally owned restaurants will donate a minimum of 25 percent of each check to AVOL. Leaf collection plan released
The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government Division of Streets and Roads has announced plans for its 2012 leaf collection program for Fayette County residents who receive waste management collections from the city.
Single vacuum pickups will begin Monday and continue through Jan. 4.

Toss that turkey grease the proper way
Lexington's third annual Gobble Grease Toss will be 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the old landfill pad at 1631 Old Frankfort Pike.
You may dispose of cooking oil and grease for free. Citizens should bring their oil in sealed containers to help prevent spillage. This service is available for Fayette County residents only.
