Harrow to miss UK's next two games, Calipari says

Published: November 21, 2012

Kentucky point guard Ryan Harrow will miss the Wildcats' next two games to tend to a family issue, Coach John Calipari announced Wednesday morning.

Harrow, who has not played since a 10-minute stint in Kentucky's season opener against Maryland, will not be at UK's home games Wednesday night against Morehead State and Friday night against Long Island.

"Unfortunately, Ryan left town this morning w/ his mom to tend to an issue w/ his family & we don't expect him back in time for Friday's game," Calipari said on Twitter. "#BBN, please keep Ryan and his family in your prayers and we hope to have him back soon."

Calipari also said that Harrow did some treadmill and individual work on Monday and lifted weights during practice Tuesday to get physically ready for a return to the court.

Calipari said during Tuesday's UK media availability that watching Harrow practice would determine the timetable for his return. He said the sophomore had lost 7 pounds because of an undisclosed, energy-sapping illness.

Harrow transferred to Kentucky after one season at North Carolina State. He sat out UK's games last season per NCAA transfer rules but practiced with the team. He was projected to be the team's starting point guard this season.
