Lexington firefighters were busy fighting a number of fires since Tuesday, fire department Maj. Ed Davis said Wednesday.
A fire in an apartment building on Withers Avenue on Tuesday night displaced three families, who were helped by the Red Cross.
The fire apparently began in the kitchen.
A shed and a detached garage burned off Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, and firefighters extinguished a scrap pile fire Wednesday morning behind the Stop and Shop on Pine Street.
Additionally, there was a fire in a dumpster next to a building on Jefferson Street around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Davis said he did not know whether any of the fires were related. None resulted in injuries.
