Unsupervised 4-year-old shoots 2-year-old in Lexington, police say

A 2-year-old boy was accidentally shot in the arm Saturday night by his male 4-year-old cousin, Lexington police said.

The shooting occurred about 7:45 p.m. in an apartment on Devenport Drive, where adults were present, police said.

The child's injuries were not considered life threatening, but he was taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital.

Social services was called to assist with the children.

Police said it appears the children were not being supervised, and there may be charges filed in the case.
