Two people died in a crash Saturday on U.S. 23 in the Ivel community of Floyd County.

Kentucky State Police said Peggy Case, 53, was traveling south when she lost control of her 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix and overcorrected. The car crossed the median onto northbound U.S. 23.

Case's car collided with a 2007 Suzuki SUV drive by Carl Ray Johnson of Kite. Case and her passenger, an unidentified 16-year-old, were pronounced dead at the scene by Floyd County Coroner Greg Nelson. Johnson and his two passengers were taken to Pikeville Medical Center for treatment. The accident is under investigation by state police.
