Crash on Georgetown Road kills Georgetown teenager

Published: December 11, 2012

A Georgetown teenager died in a head-on wreck between a car and a tractor-trailer in Lexington Tuesday.

The Fayette County Coroner's office did not release the identity of the 19-year-old Tuesday evening, pending notification of his family.

The teenager was driving a 1996 Toyota Camry south on Georgetown Road near Spurr Road about 12:45 p.m. The car apparently crossed the center line and hit a 2013 Freightliner truck head on, police said in a news release.

The driver of the truck, Uriah Burke, of Lexington, was not seriously hurt, police said.

Both the teen and Burke were wearing seat belts, the release said.

Georgetown Road at Spurr Road was closed for about four hours while the police department's Collision Reconstruction Unit investigated.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call police at (859) 258-3600.
