A standoff at a Lexington apartment complex ended about noon Wednesday when police found the man dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The first call on the matter came in about 10 a.m. Wednesday, said police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts. The man at Fox and Hound Condominiums on Armstrong Mill Road had let it be known "that he had taken care of all of his final affairs and was going to take his life," Roberts said.
But when police entered the apartment they found the man dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police did not identify the man.
During the standoff, police closed Armstrong Mill from Tates Creek Road to Appian Way.
