Man dies of head injury after being struck by car in Winchester

A man died at a Lexington hospital Wednesday after he was struck by a car in Winchester on Tuesday night, police said.

Michael Price, 38, died of traumatic head injury at 2:25 a.m. Wednesday at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, according to a release from the Fayette County coroner's office.

Price was walking south on the northbound side of Oxford Drive when he was struck by a northbound 2001 Ford Taurus driven by James Hammons of Winchester, Winchester police Capt. Harvey Craycraft said.

No charges have been brought against Hammons, but the accident remains under investigation, Craycraft said. The incident was reported at 9:17 p.m. Tuesday.
