More than 1,300 people received degrees on Saturday at Eastern Kentucky University's fall commencement in Richmond.
A morning ceremony recognized degree candidates from the colleges of Arts and Sciences and Business and Technology. Graduates from the colleges of Education, Health Sciences and Justice & Safety were honored in a ceremony in the afternoon.
The honorees included 106 associate degree candidates, 888 bachelor's degree candidates, 325 master's degree candidates and four doctoral degree candidates.
Hardy Tribble, a 1962 EKU graduate and a former Procter & Gamble purchasing manager, was the keynote speaker in the morning ceremony. The afternoon speaker was Joseph Hamilton, a professor of physics at Vanderbilt University and a nuclear physics researcher.
The student speaker for the morning ceremony was Nicholas Wade of Danville. Keith Douglas of Lexington was the afternoon student speaker.
