Talking points

Ryan Harrow started in place of Kyle Wiltjer, and Alex Poythress and Archie Goodwin were sent to the bench less than three minutes into the game. Off the bench, Wiltjer had four early rebounds and three three-pointers. UK wasn't sharp and Lipscomb was sloppy with the ball. UK let Lipscomb hang around, but five quick points by Jarrod Polson made it 43-29 the half. Little changed in the second half — UK was not that sharp but Wiltjer three-pointers helped bury Lipscomb. The loudest ovation may have been when new UK football Coach Mark Stoops did the "Y".

Telling numbers

■ Lipscomb shot 21.7 percent in the second half, making only five baskets.

■ Nice line from Nerlens Noel: Seven points, nine rebounds, seven blocks and four steals.

■ Lipscomb turned it over 15 times in the first half.

■ First half: Archie Goodwin had no points or shots (two fouls). Wiltjer (nine) and Harrow (eight) led UK in scoring. Wiltjer had six rebounds.

Thumbs up

■ Good to see Wiltjer find his shooting touch and grab 12 rebounds.

■ Ryan Harrow (12 points, no turnovers) continues his progression. He also played a team-high 31 minutes.

Thumbs down

■ It took Goodwin almost 29 minutes to score.

■ UK was never challenged, but clearly there is a lot of work to do.
