This week's case came from Janice Purdy, a social worker at Hospice Palliative Care program.

Her client is a 28-year-old unemployed teacher who needs $300 to pay a medical bill. She suffers from pancreatitis. She lost her teaching job when she was too ill to work. She has no insurance, and her doctor requires payment before she can make another appointment for treatment. At present she has no income. Her family is meeting her basic needs but is unable to pay for her medical care.
