A stolen car was found Wednesday morning in a pond in front of Lexington's Firebrook subdivision off Harrodsburg Road, police said.

Passersby reported that the car was in the water about 7:45 a.m., assistant fire chief Harold Hoskins said. Its windows and back hatch were open.

Police discovered that the car had been stolen from a home off Mason Headley Road, police Lt. Mark Brand said. The woman discovered that the car was gone when she woke up Wednesday.

No body was found in the car when it was pulled out of the water about 9:50 a.m.
