Two fires that occurred early Friday in the same Lexington neighborhood are being investigated.

Battalion Chief Brian Wainscott said one fire, reported at 1:16 a.m., destroyed a home on Ohio Terrace, and emergency medical technicians took one person to the hospital.

Wainscott said he did not have any more details about the person or the injuries.

Less than an hour after the Ohio Terrace fire, at 1:57 a.m., smoke and flames were reported visible at an abandoned house on Eddie Street. The house was heavily damaged, Wainscott said.

Wainscott said fire officials were investigating whether the two fires were related, but he would not elaborate.

Ohio Terrace and Eddie Street are southeast of North Broadway, between East Sixth Street and East Loudon Avenue.
