High school basketball roundup: Marion County girls roll

Logan Powell scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and Marion County (17-0), ranked No. 1 in Dave Cantrall's Rating the State, cruised to an 83-32 victory at Campbellsville on Friday night.

University of Kentucky signee Makayla Epps added 19 points and four steals.

Next up for the Lady Knights is a game Saturday against No. 7 Manual in a rematch of last year's Sweet Sixteen finals. Manual won the 2012 title 58-54.

Boys' highlights

■ Jack Whitman scored 23 points and was 9-for-10 from the field in Lexington Catholic's 65-51 win against visiting Tates Creek. Whitman also had six rebounds and three blocked shots.

■ Justin Sanders made a layup with 31 seconds left that gave Sayre a 38-36 victory at St. Patrick. Sanders finished with 16 points, eight rebounds and seven assists.

■ Lafayette jumped out to a 14-point lead by halftime and went on to defeat host Lexington Christian 68-51. Jackson Davis led the Generals with 21 points, 15 rebounds and four steals.

■ Dominique Hawkins scored 21 points in No. 9 Madison Central's 72-53 win at home against Covington Holy Cross.

■ Pikeville's Ethan Rowe had a career-high 42 points, including 18 at the free-throw line, in a 73-64 win against visiting Shelby Valley. Ray Kasongo added 19 points and 10 rebounds for the Panthers.
