For the second time in four days, a dive team from the Lexington Division of Fire removed a vehicle that was found in a pond.

However, Lexington police said they do not think the two incidents are related because the Ford Explorer pulled from the water Sunday had not been reported stolen.

On Wednesday, crews removed a Toyota Prius that was dumped in a pond on Harrodsburg Road. That car had been stolen overnight.

Sunday morning, residents of The Racquet Club apartments on Crosby Drive noticed the roof of the Explorer poking out of the man-made water feature next to a parking lot, police Lt. Dean Marcum said.

Police and firefighters found the vehicle empty. Marcum said police did not know how the sport-utility vehicle wound up in the pond.

"It may have rolled form a parking spot. Somebody might not have put it in gear," he said.
