Immigration officials arrest 39 men in Lexington

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested 39 men over the weekend who were in Lexington illegally. The men were targeted primarily because of criminal convictions.

Of those arrested, 36 had been convicted of crimes including assault, drunken driving, hit-and-run, domestic violence, drug possession, having a concealed deadly weapon and aggravated assault on a police officer. The other three did not have convictions but had been deported previously and had re-entered the country illegally.

All but one of the men are from Mexico. The other man is from Honduras. ICE's Enforcement and Removal Operations teams from Louisville made the arrests Saturday and Sunday.
