Alumni help sought in search for new UK provost

lblackford@herald-leader.comJanuary 17, 2013

The University of Kentucky Alumni Association is asking for help with the search for a provost.

UK alumni can nominate candidates by emailing the search firm of Witt/Kieffer, which is assisting a UK committee with the search, at ukprovost@wittkieffer.com. A news release said the committee is particularly encouraging applications by women and underrepresented minorities.

The search website, www.uky.edu/provostsearch, allows email access to all committee members during the search process. In addition, they will hold several open forums to discuss the process and ask for feedback from alumni, faculty, staff and students.

The forums will be held:

■ Noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, Biological-Pharmaceutical Building (College of Pharmacy), Room 234.

■ Noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, W.T. Young Library Auditorium.

■ 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, Student Center, Worsham Theater.

For more information, go to www.uky.edu/provostsearch. The search is being co-chaired by Charley Carlson, professor, College of Arts and Sciences and Mike Reid, Chair, Department of Physiology, College of Medicine.

Almost one year ago, Provost Kumble Subbaswamy was hired as chancellor of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, the UMass system's flagship university.
