Bowling: Lexington city tournament deadlines approach

Special to the Herald-LeaderJanuary 19, 2013

Kenny Stephens rolled his third perfect game of the season on Jan. 11 in the Friday Night Fun League at Collins Bowling Centers-Eastland. His 300 paced a 732 series.

Stephens has also posted four 800 series this season.

Three bowlers — Tim Morris, Glen Barber and Tony Tretheway — barely missed perfection by rolling 299 games.

■ The annual city tournaments for both men and women will be held Feb. 16-17 and 23-24 at Eastland. The entry fee is $22 per bowler per event and the deadline is Feb. 1.

■ Doug Kent, winner of 10 Professional Bowlers Association Tour titles, including four major championships, and Danny Wiseman, a 12-time tour winner with one major, were named to the PBA Hall of Fame.

Kent, of Newark, N.Y., and Wiseman, of Baltimore, will be inducted during the PBA's Hall of Fame dinner on March 30 in Indianapolis.

In the voting for the 50 greatest players in PBA history during the organization's 50th anniversary celebration in 2009, Wiseman was ranked 42nd and Kent 43rd.
