A Lexington woman accused of slashing another woman's face at Fayette Mall earlier this month was arrested Tuesday.

Nicole Kristin Bewley, 21, who was wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant, turned herself in at the Fayette County Sheriff's office on Limestone Street Tuesday, said Lexington police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts.

Roberts said the victim, whom she declined to name, was on her way to work at a store inside the mall on Jan. 15 when two women attacked her.

"They basically kicked and punched her several times and held her down and cut her face with some sort of sharp object," Roberts said.

She said the weapon was a "small, sharp blade" like a razor blade or box cutter.

The victim, who suffered "some pretty serious cuts" to her face, gave police information about who she thought the attackers were, Roberts said.

The incident happened on the Dillard's end of the mall in "the middle of the day," but no one intervened in the attack, she said.

The other woman who participated in the attack is thought to have held the victim down while Bewley wielded the blade, Roberts said.

The case is still under investigation, and anyone with information should call Lexington police.

Bewley was taken to the Fayette County Detention Center and is charged with one count of first-degree assault.
