Franklin County: KHS seeking volunteer docents for Old State Capitol

Published: January 30, 2013

The Kentucky Historical Society is seeking volunteer docents to lead tours of the Old State Capitol. An open house will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday for anyone who is interested.

Participants will discover the myths and mysteries associated with the Old State Capitol, a National Historic Landmark and Kentucky's capitol from 1830 to 1910. This is a free information session about becoming a volunteer docent at the society. No script memorization or prior knowledge is required, but a passion for Kentucky history and interest in public speaking are preferred.

For more information or to RSVP, contact Phyllis Gilman at (502) 564-1792, Ext. 4422 or phyllis.gilman@ky.gov.
