A LexTran vehicle burst into flames on Friday while a bus driver was sitting in the parked vehicle eating lunch before going back on his regular run.

Jill Barnett, LexTran spokeswoman, said Kenneth Hughes smelled smoke, but got out of the 2004 Ford Explorer before it burst into flames.

Firefighters were not sure of the cause of the fire, Barnett said, but believed it started under the dashboard. Arson or other suspicious circumstances were not suspected.
