A Mount Vernon man died Monday in a two-vehicle wreck at U.S. 461 and Ky. 150 in Rockcastle County, Kentucky State Police said.

Don R. Barnett, 55, of Mount Vernon, was driving westbound on Ky. 150 when his Hyundai failed to stop for a red light and entered the path of a Dodge Caravan driven by Kimberlee R. Benien, 23, of Somerset, state police said in a news release. Benien was unable to avoid the collision, and her van struck the Hyundai in the side.

Barnett was taken to Rockcastle County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Benien and her passenger, Serena Howell, 23, of Somerset, also were taken to Rockcastle County Hospital. Benien was treated and released.

Howell was flown to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital in Lexington, where she was listed in stable condition, police said Tuesday.

Drug or alcohol use is not suspected in the wreck, police said.
