Garrard County man found dead in storage unit

Published: February 6, 2013

Foul play is not suspected in the death of a Lancaster man found Tuesday locked inside a storage unit, Garrard County Sheriff Ronnie Wardrip said.

Christian Robinette, 41, was found lying down in his Ford pickup truck in the unit he had rented at Eastside Storage on Ky. 52 east of Lancaster, Wardrip said.

Robinette's wife had reported him missing Monday. She last saw him Thursday night after they'd had an argument, Wardrip said.

The storage unit could be locked from the inside, Wardrip said. When it was opened Tuesday, Robinette was found lying inside the truck cab. The keys to the pickup were on the dashboard.

Following an autopsy Wednesday at the state medical examiner's office in Frankfort, Garrard Coroner Daryl Hodge said authorities were investigating whether Robinnette died of carbon monoxide poisoning. Hodge said he would not know definitively what caused the death or how Robinette died until toxicology reports were complete.
