Kentucky's Secretary of State warns of business scam

Published: February 7, 2013

The secretary of state’s office warned businesses this week to be aware of a scam that has reached Kentucky after circulating through several states, including neighboring Tennessee and Illinois.

In a statement, the office said an entity calling itself Corporate Records Service has mailed forms titled “2013 Annual Minutes Form” to companies and claimed that a fee of $125 must be paid.

“Many businesses have contacted my office to inquire about the form; the form was not sent from this office, and all information available to us indicates the request is a scam,” Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes said in a statement.
