NAIA women: Pikeville upsets Georgetown 66-62

GEORGETOWN — Callisha Johnson scored 31 points, while Peyton Wright added 15 points and 13 rebounds to lead Pikeville to a 66-62 upset of the 13th-ranked Georgetown women's basketball team Thursday.

Johnson, a 5-foot-9 junior from Shelbyville, Tenn., had 20 points in the first half.

The Bears (8-15, 4-10 Mid-South Conference) closed the half with a 14-0 run to take their first lead, 30-28.

The game was tied at 62 when Georgetown's Kourtney Tyra made two free throws with 39.2 seconds left.

Johnson drove the baseline for the winning basket with 19.5 seconds left.

After a Tigers miss, Wright made both halves of a one-and-one at :06.5.

Tyra paced Georgetown (16-8, 10-5) with 15 points. Devanny King and Andrea Howard scored 14 each. Lizza Jones had nine points and 14 rebounds.

Pikeville shot 27-for-67 (40.3) percent, 3-for-13 long range (23.1) and 9-for-10 (90.0) at the foul line. Georgetown was held to 23-for-74 (31.1), 4-for-25 (16.0) and 12-for-20 (60.0).
