Police were looking Friday for a man who jumped off a steep embankment in Laurel County after leading authorities on a high-speed chase Thursday night through three counties.

Madison County Sheriff's Deputy Derek Thomas said the man was driving recklessly in a truck stolen from Ohio when Thomas spotted the truck on southbound Interstate 75 in Madison County.

The chase continued through Rockcastle County and ended on I-75 in Laurel County, Thomas said, when police deployed spike strips that deflated the suspect's tires. The driver left the road, got out of his truck and jumped off the 30-foot embankment.

Thomas described the man as 6 feet tall, white and in his mid- to late 30s. He had little to no hair and a goatee, Thomas said. The man is thought to be from Ohio.
