Here are the 3-year-olds who weren't sharp enough to make it into our Derby Dozen but who stand to make a strong run for the roses before all is said and done.
OVERANALYZE
Owner: Repole Stable
Trainer: Todd Pletcher
Bloodline: Bay colt by Dixie Union-Unacloud, by Unaccounted For
Career record: Five starts, 3-0-1, $344,381
The lowdown: Won a gutsy headbob over Normandy Invasion in the Grade II Remsen last November. Only thing that kept him out of the main dozen was the lousy history Remsen winners have had in the Derby the past decade, plus the ample number of other Pletcher contenders.
WILL TAKE CHARGE
Owner: Willis D. Horton
Trainer: D. Wayne Lukas
Bloodline: Chestnut colt by Unbridled's Song-Take Charge Lady, by Dehere
Career record: Five starts, 2-1-0, $184,171
The lowdown: Half-brother to Grade I winner Take Charge Indy closed over a speed-favoring track to break his maiden at Keeneland and was game to win the Smarty Jones Stakes at Oaklawn Park on Jan. 21.
DYNAMIC SKY

Trainer: Mark Casse
Bloodline: Dark bay colt by Sky Mesa-Murani, by Distorted Humor
Career record: Six starts, 2-2-1, $288,115.
The lowdown: Stakes winner was beaten a neck by Falling Sky in Grade III Sam F. Davis on Feb. 2 but was drifting out in the lane, suggesting there is still maturing to be done.
FALLING SKY

Trainer: John Terranova
Bloodline: Bay colt by Lion Heart-Sea Dragoness, by Sea Hero
Career record: Four starts, 3-0-0, $164,800

UNCAPTURED

Trainer: Mark Casse
Bloodline: Dark bay colt by Lion Heart-Captivating, by Arch.
Career record: Seven starts, 6-0-0, $510,837.

HE'S HAD ENOUGH
Owner: Reddam Racing
Trainer: Doug O'Neill
Bloodline: Gray or roan colt by Tapit-Amelia, by Dixieland Band
Career record: Six starts, 1-1-1, $472,000
The lowdown: Came within a head of winning the Breeders' Cup Juvenile but was third in a field of four in the Grade II Robert B. Lewis on Feb. 2. Has frustrated O'Neill with his tendency to not apply himself in races or in the mornings.
MAC THE MAN
Owner: Sherri Greenhill
Trainer: Jeffrey Greenhill
Bloodline: Bay colt by El Corredor-Marchmont, by Mountain Cat

Trainer: Todd Pletcher
Bloodline: Bay colt by Dixie Union- Art Show, by Out of Place

DEPARTING
Owner: Claiborne Farm & Adele Dilschneider
Trainer: Al Stall Jr.

The lowdown: Hasn't faced stakes company yet but won an allowance race going 1 mile, 70 yards by 41/2 lengths at Fair Grounds on Feb. 1.

Preakness: Baffert, Lukas agree: It will take something out of the norm to beat Orb
